Hawaii has numerous public holidays and a mass of annual festivals and events. The list is far too numerous to be listed and dates do change slightly from year to year. The main festivals are:
February is the month of Makaha World Surfing Championship, Oahu. This is very popular championship in Oahu. March is the month of 26th – Prince Kuhio Day – state-wide. In April, O’Neill Windsurfing, Ho’okipa, Maui Merrie Monach Festival, Hilo, Big Island is celebrated. Every month in Hawaii there is a festival and its very interesting for those who love to visit different countries and want to see their culture. That’s why tourists love to go to Hawaii. On 1st May, in Hawaii it’s celebrated as Lei Day. Like this, 11th June is known as Kamehameha Day. 4th July is celebrated as Parker Ranch rodeo, Waimea, Big Island Koloa Plantation Days week long, Koloa, Kaua’I. In August International Billfish Tournament, is organized. September is the month of Queen Lili’uokalani Canoe Races, Kailua, and Big Island and also food festival is organized in Lahaina by the name of a taste of Lahaina. October is celebrated as Ironman Triathalon in Big Island. In November, Aloha Classic Windsurfing is organized in Maui and World Invitation Hula Festival, Honolulu, Oahu also Triple Crown of Surfing, North Shore, Oahu. And on the last month which is December Triple Crown of Surfing, North Shore and Honolulu Marathon is organized in Oahu.
The Kona Coffee Festival is Hawaii’s oldest and popular festival which held over a two-week period. Though hotels in Hawaii are popular but its festivals are also important too. This festival is held in Kailua-Kona during early November. The Kona Coffee Cultural Festival is recognized as the oldest and most successful product festival in Hawaii and is the only coffee festival in the United States. This 10-day festival is filled with more than 30 community events honor the multi-ethnic heritage of Kona coffee pioneers and their gourmet brews.
