See my slideshow for pertinent info & history regarding this wonderful song & artist. It’s also a re-creation of my original video slideshow I had up before, as it got deleted & my copy had also became damaged/corrupted. Here are the lyrics to the song: (Composed by Werner Scharfenberger and Fini Busch, english words by lyricist Norman Newell, german version (”Seeman”) by Lolita) – I copied this from the Internet and also had help in correcting some of the lyrics (thank you) (Seeman, deiner Heimat ist das Meer) Seeman, lass das traeumen Denk nicht an zu Haus Seeman, Wind und Wellen Rufen dich hinaus Deiner Heimat ist das Meer Deiner Freunde sind die Sterne Ueber Rio und Shanghai Ueber Bali und Hawaii Deiner Liebe ist dein Schiff Deiner Sehnsucht ist die Ferne Und nur Ihnen bist du Treu Ein Leben lang Seeman Sailor, Sailor Lass das traeumen Your home is the deep blue sea Denke Your ship is your love Nicht an mich And the stars are your best friends Seeman And though you find your thrills Denn die Fremde In the places far away from me Weiter Just remember I’m always waiting Fur auf dir When your journey ends Deiner Heimat ist das Meer Deiner Freunde sind die Sterne Ueber Rio und Shanghai Ueber Bali und Hawaii Deiner Liebe ist dein Schiff Deiner Sehnsucht ist die Ferne Und nur Ihnen bist du Treu Ein Leben lang

@gpgo My Oma was from Danzig also, by a little town called Putzig in West Prussia, Puck today in Polish. I got to see Danzig once, a beautiful City!

My mother was from near the town that is now called Stargard Szcecinski, which is a few miles from the major city that was then called Stettin but today is called Szczecin. I was born & raised in and near Bavaria and never saw the sea while living in Germany, but now live right by the Pacific Ocean and see plenty of water…LOL

Well done Wally. I can assure you that Sailors throughout the world, regardless of country, have a special feeling for all other sailors. This is a great song and makes me proud to have served in the United States Navy.
