Aloha Friday Photo: Maui’s Garden of Eden Edition

Today’s Aloha Friday Photo was taken at Maui’s Garden of Eden just off the road to Hana . What a delightful view filled with serene shades of blue and green. Looking at this scene makes me want to relax on one of those benches for an hour or two or three. Mahalo to Nan DeMott of Richland, Michigan for sending in this beautiful photo from her Maui vacation. Nan tells me that this photo is only one of 980 photos she snapped during her Maui visit. That’s a lot of photos, but this one is one of her favorites. I can see why. We’re on facebook! Aloha Friday Photo: SPAM Breath Mints?

Aloha Friday Photo: SPAM Breath Mints?

Hot off the heels of yesterday’s post about SPAM flavored mac nuts , we have yet another wacky, new SPAM product – SPAM mints. That’s right – SPAM mints! Our Oahu pal, Dave, sent today’s photo. He spotted this display of SPAM mints on his way out of the store. He said that the cashier gave him a sample to try and he liked it. Now, at first glance these mints sound, well, awful, but unlike their mac nut cousins, SPAM mints are not SPAM flavored. Whew! SPAM mints are cinnamon flavored . Dave says, “The mints look like little slices of SPAM – pink with darker pink flakes in the shape of a slice of SPAM. They kind of look like PEZ candy.” With Hawaii’s strong affinity for SPAM , these SPAM mints might make a quirky Hawaii souvenir to bring home to your friends and co-workers. They’ll surely spark conversation. Mahalo to Dave for sharing these SPAM mint photos from Oahu. © Go Visit Hawaii – Republication of this entire post is prohibited without prior permission. Finding the Best Big Island Restaurants – Now with Updates

Private breakfast on the lanai at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel After our recent visit to the Big Island of Hawaii , we’ve updated our recommendations of where to dine in Hawaii . Though the Big Island restaurant post was originally published in 2008, we do update it regularly. We aim to try as many new places as we can, which has not been so kind to our waistlines. As I say in the updated post, we don’t take our recommendations lightly. We prepare our list as if we’re giving it to our closest friends and family. We think that dining can be an important part of a memorable vacation. So we hope that you’ll find our recommendations useful for making the most of your Hawaii vacation. We’re on facebook!
