Marine Sgt. Jay M. Hoskins, 24, of Paris, Texas. Died Aug. 6, while supporting combat operations in Farah province, Afghanistan. assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Kaneohe Bay, HI. Sergeant Hoskins graduated from North Lamar High School in Paris in 2003. He joined the Marine Corps in August 2003 and reported to Hawaii in January. USFallen.org Presents Sgt. Jay M. Hoskins A Parisian Welcoming Dateline: August 13, 2009 Temp: low 90s, Paris, Texas. Hoskins final journey home began after a chartered plane delivered his flag draped coffin. The family welcomed their love one home. There was a formal transfer of the coffin from the tarmac to the hearse. The staging of the procession ran from the flight line to the main entrance to the air field. High school students from the school he graduated from lined both sides of the street. The video shows highlights of the seven mile journey from the airfield to the funeral home. As a video producer, I have seen many of these types of videos before, but I never experienced one in person. I live in a big city and we lose sight of real priorities. A human sacrifice still means something to many Americans and our allies. Our fallen soldiers allow for us to protest over healthcare, taxes, and anything else our heart desires. When Jay Hoskins came home today, traffic did not pull over it got off the street, and cleared the way for his procession. Thousands of citizens …

“When it comes to my own turn to lay my weapons down, I shall do so with thankfulness and fatigue, and whatever be my destiny afterward, I shall be glad to lie down with my fathers in honor. It is human at least, if not devine.”

I have family that live in Paris. It’s an awesome little city. I’m in awe of this video and the respect they had/have for our military and our fight for freedom.
Thank you and God bless all of you who fight for our country, to those who lost the fight, but are not forgotten, and to the family whose loved ones died for our freedom.

I never knew Sgt. Hoskins but we do have things in common. We lived an hour apart here in Texas. We both served in the United States Marine Corps. We both served during combat. But thats where it ends. Sgt. hoskins parished in a far away land. Far away from his family and loved ones. Far away from home. Sgt. Hoskins gave his life fighting for our freedom. Although he probably didn’t think so, he was a true hero, America’s finest, a US Marine. God Bless you brother, Semper Fidelis.
